Just Ended UPSC prelim examination in Marathwada

The Civil Services preliminary examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was held on Sunday, The exam was held at 29 centers in the city on Sunday and around 60 per cent candidates took to the examination. Out of 10,844 candidates, in Aurangabad division, 6,129 candidates appeared, while 4,715 skipped the exam. After the examination, candidates said that the general studies papers were easy, hence, more candidates can qualify for main exam. In the last few years, the presence of Marathi candidates has increased considerably in the UPSC examinations. The result of previous UPSC examination was declared recently in which candidates from the Marathwada region performed well. This is a clear indication that the students of Marathwada are now taking keen interest in Civil Services examination. Hence, the number of the students from the region in UPSC examination has increased. The General Studies paper of 200 marks was held in the morning session between 9.30 am and 11.30 am: The paper was easy and many students will get through, feel students. UPSC has changed the examination pattern from 2010. The students are well acquainted with the new pattern , hence, the success ratio may increase. As compared to the question papers of the past two years, this year the question papers of the General Studies were easy.
The General Studies - 2 paper comprising questions on reasoning and analytical ability, general mental ability, mathematics, English and understanding capability carrying 200 marks was held between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Arvind Pisalwar Kishor Wagh, Raghunath Narote and others who took to the exam on Sunday were of the views that the merit is likely to increase as the papers were easy as compared previous years.
